The Ibn Haldun University Language Camp, first held in the summer of 2019, is a language education program based on the principle of participants speaking English for 24 hours (all day). The program content and methodology are unique to the IHU Language Camp and are not implemented in any other language program in Turkey. The program accepts students who have proficiency in English above a certain level, including middle school or high school preparatory students from first to fourth grade. The program duration consists of two or four weeks. Classes accommodate 13 students each, with the capacity to educate up to 100 students simultaneously. At the end of the program, participants receive a Certificate of Attendance and Pearson Versant Test results, indicating their internationally recognized English proficiency level.
The IHU Language Camp is designed for participants to learn by experiencing the target language. Accordingly, participants are prepared by using the English language in their daily lives to learn the language they aim to learn. Therefore, classes are organized to include the four skills that constitute the essence of the language (reading, listening, writing, and speaking).
Before the program, participants sign a Language Commitment. According to this commitment, throughout the program, for 7 days and 24 hours, participants are obligated to use only the language they are learning in their daily tasks, classes, activities, and leisure time. Using a language other than English during this period would pose a problem for the continuity of the program and may result in dismissal from the program. In addition, participants are expected to fully comply with the program content.
The participants of the 2023 Summer Language Camp are signing the Language Commitment.
The students attend classes with native English-speaking instructors in small-sized classrooms.
